It turned out that the batteries I had changed were dead batteries. After changing the batteries I was unable to figure out why my smoke alarms kept beeping even after I had changed the batteries. By the way, I didn't know some of them were dead because I stored them that way. In the past, most of my books were dead because I threw them out as they were. Additionally, I found it handy that the little box even contains a battery tester, which made it easy to figure out if any batteries needed to be discarded. I also had to check all of the batteries that I had left. I cleared out the tub o' batteries I had been using, and as I removed the batteries from the tub, I used the handy battery tester to find out if any were bad or weak.
